"The one absolute rule you should first be considering is this, a pro can take great pictures with just about any camera. It takes skill and that comes from experience and that comes from many hours, days, weeks and even years of practice. Learning to ‘see’ the picture before you take it either comes naturally for some while others may spend many years trying to see the world through one eye. A $1000 lens won’t make you a better photographer – sometimes it will even create problems due to its specialized usage. If you cannot take a great picture with the kit lens you probably won’t with any other lens. Professional lenses just make great shots ‘useable’ in print and other media – that’s it! Bad composition is bad no matter what lens you use. Bad lighting is bad no matter what lens you use." -MaxxuM
